I found you today,
it had been so long since I had,
your eyes,
in a distance I closed my own,
concentrated,
rushed to keep my lids comfortably tight
so I could feel the shadows passing by,
a glimpse of light,
a soft memory,
Slowly
I could feel my eyes wanting to focus
on an overhead fan in my room,
but mine was not to be with this world,
I wanted to see you,
miles away yet always near my heart,
only imagining perhaps, this chilly afternoon,
a seat on the deck, dear boy
near so soon he’s learning the melody of bird-song
you taught me so well.
I want to speak yet know I cannot,
only may I dream,
a soft light of smile crosses my eye
deep inside the shadows of my mind,
I do still yearn
to feel your heartbeat next to my own,
those rare moments,
those forbidden moments,
wanton of the passion
we did,
do surrender our world.
